South Village
The redevelopment of this site forms part of the urban transformation driven by the arrival of the tramway and seeks to establish a new form of urbanity for this district located on the outskirts of the capital, at the interface between the urban fabric of Cloche d’Or and the Howald forest. Benefiting from excellent public transport connections (tram, train and bus), as well as efficient individual mobility infrastructure (motorway access and cycle paths), the site offers favourable conditions for controlled densification, combining urban intensity, mixed-use development and a human-scale environment.
The project comprises five buildings set within a generously landscaped and heavily planted environment: three office buildings and two mixed-use buildings, predominantly residential in nature, complemented by retail and food-service facilities.
The Shift, The Corner and The Edge, three buildings that have already been completed, share a common architectural language and are arranged around a central private park, richly planted to provide users with a high-quality and tranquil outdoor space.
The base of The Shift building is designed as a slightly recessed volume, softening the perception of its height at pedestrian level. Clad in light-coloured natural stone, it establishes a dialogue with the bases of The Corner and The Edge, ensuring a coherent architectural identity across the development. The extensively glazed ground floors create transparent plinths that enhance visual permeability and open the building generously towards the public realm. These active frontages contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere along pedestrian routes.
The buildings primarily accommodate office spaces designed to offer a high degree of flexibility. Each floor plate can be fully customised and subdivided into two independent units, allowing the spaces to be easily adapted to the needs of users, whether large organisations or smaller businesses. This flexibility ensures that layouts can evolve over time while enabling the long-term optimisation of office space.
The curtain-wall façades visually compose double-height architectural volumes. Solar control is provided by external roller blinds complemented by vertical fins, which contribute both to thermal comfort and to the architectural expression of the façades.
